Raw meaty bones - yes or no??

I stay away from them, but I'm just being cautious....

At one point, I started feeding the boys Merrick's Wing a Lings (canned food, with with whole wings in it). Being an idiot razz:), I didn't realize there were wings in the food (uh duh! What was your first clue??)

Found Indy choking on a wing after the first week. That was the end of that.

I've never heard of this! How big where the wings to be able to fit into a small dog food can?! How many wings were there to a can?!

My girls love raw meaty bones. They get a variety of them as part of their diet, mostly chicken carcasses, pork riblets and turkey wings, as well they get beef bones for recreational chew bones. It keeps them busy, cleans their teeth and provides an excellent source of nutrition!

From the sounds of it, do you feed raw? I do. I feed pray model mostly. Mine love the bones. As of late, I've been giving them beef knuckle bones, that were cut in two or three by the local pet store and they devour them. But I think that they are getting too much bone in one meal that way - as their stool comes out much too hard and Maia strains a bit. I think I will have to go back to whole knuckle bones that they cannot eat in one sitting. They don't have the same problem with chicken bones, turckey wings/legs etc. But it does keep their teeth shiny and clean!

One or two wings, with lots of gunk (veggies, gravy, chicken bits) around it. The wings were small enough that I didn't even notice it when I spooned it in their bowls.

Don't get me wrong...I love Merrick's canned....but now my boys eat Thanksgiving Day Dinner instead.
