Really smelly pee

Benson started having really smelly urine, it clung to his hairs and I could literally smell him as he walked by or laid down near me. No changes in anything behavior wise. I'd clean him off and in a day he was stinky again. I have no clue what was causing it, but I decided to try some supplements before vet/tests/antibiotics.
About April 8th I started both boys on Dr. Oscar Dog UTI Treatment https://www.amazon.com/Treatment-Co...089CZ9HT3/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 . It appears to have worked. They both smell fine, and I haven't seen any negative effects of this supplement. They eat it like treats.
At this point I don't know if I will continue as a daily add or stop and see if the stink comes back...
But I can recommend it for anyone suspecting UTI issues--give it a try. Seldom does any thing do what it says it will anymore LOL

Just an FYI, you can take a urine sample to the vet for testing instead of having to bring them in.
Less cost than an office visit. But, if something shows up they can contact you! Thanks for the link. I will try that too.
Yeah I took Koko's in several times over the years. I think being able to hold a soup ladle under Benny long enough to collect would be quite the challenge!! I think the lab costs are still twice the price of a bottle though.
I remember clearing my own UTI up with cranberry juice back in college. I didn't know it worked for dogs too.

Shelby had a UTI last summer. Our vet prefers to get a sterile urine sample using ultrasound and drawing urine out of the bladder and then does cultures so he can order the correct antibiotics. He did say that if this became a chronic issue we could add cranberry to her diet. I think it changes the PH of the urine to help prevent bacteria from growing.

When Gavin was sick after Christmas...when he came home and was eating Royal Canin I/D....his pee was awful. sickly sweet smelling! It didn't get better until I got him off of all wet food, and since he was being hand fed wet food for a few weeks, it took a while. no issues since.. so smelly pee doesn't always mean UTI (though the straining to pee is a classic sign of a UTI). Now we have normal bad smelling pee!
