Resource for living with a reactive, shy, nervous sheltie

So many of us have sensitive, shy, reactive or nervous shelties. I want to share a resource I am finding quite helpful. Amy Cook is a PhD behavior trainer in California who teaches online classes and presentations. I believe she will soon have a book about her program called The Play Way.

I am currently auditing two of her online classes, one about noise sensitivity and one called Boogeyman about shy reactive dogs. Her methods are 100% positive and are stretching me to think in new ways about how to be my dog’s partner in helping her negotiate a world that often scares her.

just thought I’d share

I took Amy’s FDS Bogeyman course to improve Flurry’s confidence. It was really helpful and I still use the techniques I learned from her. I’d recommend it highly to anyone.

How does the auditing work? It looks interesting.
With the Fenzi classes there are three levels of registration. Bronze is like auditing. You get access to all the written materials and videos from the instructor and access to everybody’s homework videos and the feedback given to them by the instructor. You can’t ask questions or submit video. It is the cheapest registration. With silver and gold registration, you get to submit and ask questions with silver being limited and gold obviously with the most interaction. So far, I am finding the written material and watching others progress quite helpful. I may retake the Bogeyman class next session at the gold level. Hope this helps.

Diane, just so you know, you have to be sitting poised at your computer with your hand over the "Enter" key at the exact time the class registration opens to make it into the Gold level. I opted to do Bogyeman at Silver and found that was perfect for me. You can ask questions, interact with class members and Amy, and you don't have the time constraints for submitting homework that you do at the Gold level.
