Tomorrow Beckon and I are going back into the competitive Rally ring. It'll be the first time since he recovered from his bout with myotonia congentia and hypothyroid.

We've practiced and taken classes, but Rally Excellent is so challenging! I'm not sure we're really ready, but what the heck! I figure if I screw up. he'll still have fun. Keep your fingers crosses for us! :fl

Chris, I am so excited that you and the Colonel are making your return to competition. I am sending good vibes your way!

However tomorrow goes, you get to go home with the best prize of all... a happy Beckon whose health issues are under control. How cool is that? :hugs

You'll both be fine:yes:
we've gotten it down to 5 of the excellent signs that we have issues with still and wouldn't you know, Cran got 2 of them today:ick

Hey Chris, know that fingers, toes, eyes and anything else I can find to cross will be coming Beckon's way tomorrow with all the good wishes I can muster. You will both do well and you'll bring home a tired but happy boy and as stated, above all else, a healthy boy. GO GET 'EM BECKON!! :fl

Whoo Hoo! Got a Blue!!!

Colonel Underpants got his first leg for Rally Excellent!

We NQ'd the first run -- Beckon was tense, it being his first show in more than two and a half years. That plus a very picky judge (so others told me), and I understood. But he did the Send over jump where I had to stay back -- amazing! We weren't expecting much today but...

In his second trial, Beckon did much better. His back-ups were outstanding, and even though he blew of moving down, walk around dog, everything else was enough. For some reason, he decided he didn't want to jump the second jump -- it was a panel jump, and the first time he ever saw one was this morning in the first run. Guess he decided he didn't like it. :rolleyes2:

At the end, when the judge said we qualified, I got so excited, I picked Beckon up to hug him. OOPS!!! The judge scolded me and took two points to teach me a lesson. Bad Mommy! We still had a Q (70, skin of our teeth). The other entrant also got a 70, but our time was faster. So we got first place.

Sort of a comedy of errors, but Beckon and I say, we'll take it!!

One down, two legs to go!! Thanks for all the encouragement. I read your posts in between runs, and it really boosted our morale! :hugs

Great job Team Beckon! If giving your dog a hug at the end of the run is a mistake, I think it's a good one to make. :biggrin2:
