Rib structure changes?

I was petting and rubbing Miko just now and I noticed that his rib cage is all warped. It wasn't like this before. Does age do this to them? I figured I'd ask here before I ask the vet tomorrow.

Basically, where it was round and smooth, now, when I feel him from front to back, his rib cage is warped. It's like certain parts collapsed inward or something.

It's kind of freaking me out. I mean, how strange. It doesn't help that the place it collapses in, in one spot, is where I can feel his heartbeat the strongest.

I noticed that with F-kap last week.:confused2: I was going to ask the vet when I took him a couple days ago, but I was so concerned about his tests that I forgot. Do let us know what your vet thinks. Prayers for you and Miko.:hugs

The vet said it's not like he broke his ribs or anything like that. Also said that with kidney patients, sometimes you can see rubber bones, but you see that more in the jaws and Miko is fine. He wondered if it's been like that for a long time (like a birth defect), but that him having more weight on him made it not as noticeable. He doesn't believe it's something that is recent and he also feels that it's not affecting Miko in a negative way.

I guess, if I wanted to know the past history, I could call my previous vet to see if they have his x-rays (or the internist) to see if it was like that back then.

Just seems strange.

That makes since. I never noticed the dips in F-kap's rib cage when he was fat. Kinda strange that I never saw it until a week ago though. Glad Miko is OK!

If your vet says something interesting, by all means come back and post. I would love to hear your end of things too.
