We have used those inflatable soft collars for ours when they were neutered- and yeah who would like that?? But they work well and you can pump em up to be very stiff or not so much. Gavapentin is a wonder drug for animals- hope Ruffles feels better today, they are stoic and the food binge is a good sign.. I imagine doing business in the yard will not be fun for Ruffles. She had a pretty good night last night until around 4 a.m. when the pain pills wore off. So we tiptoed downstairs trying not to wake up the other four (hah) and got her gabapentin in and a quick trip out. She is NOT a fan of the cone so I'm trying a softer one today, but she can bend it. I'm thinking about just putting one of the many pairs of doggie panties I have on her so she doesn't need the cone.
She ate breakfast like she hadn't eaten in a week and seems pretty good otherwise! Me not so much. We had a nasty thunderstorm until just after midnight so there was no sleeping then, and a 4 a.m. start didn't help. Lots of coffee today!
I'm finding the panties are the perfect solution but in desperation last night I went back to Amazon and found the newest e-torture device that seems like a fabulous idea...it's a soft donut with a detachable collar-type rim that zips on. My problem with the donuts is that for some of these injuries like this one they're able to reach around the donut and get to the wound. Or maybe I just have Houdini dogs. Of course I ordered one! Figure I'll need it sooner or later....We have used those inflatable soft collars for ours when they were neutered- and yeah who would like that??
