I went to see them today. They are in that numb phase between the death and dealing with the logistics of the visitation and funeral. It's the surreal space, that I remember well.
When Michelle died, my parents, my son and my-ex were all out of town on vacations. I was in the process of moving our entire head office to our brand-new constructed location. I worked all that weekend to have everything set up for when people came back to work on the Monday. None of it felt real.
It only hit after the funeral, when everyone went home to got back to their lives, and I had to finally look at what life without Michelle would be. I know where my friend is at, and I'm there for her when the wall finally crumbles down.
Thanks for your support everyone. It's been an emotional time for me.
