Safe Balls for Dogs

I just checked it from work and it opened fine there too.

Here is a different link to a chuck it ball:

I wouldn't say its hard plastic, it seems to be made of plastic but it has a rubbery consistency and is hollow in the middle so that it floats. My dogs go wild over these balls, I don't know what it is about them. They come in different sizes so I don't see how they could hurt, assuming you get the proper size for your dog.

What do you think Ann?

btw - Thank you for posting this warning about tennis balls. I'd heard about the harmful chemicals in the dye, which is why I only give my dogs chuck it balls now. They like them WAY more anyway. :smile2

These look great, Melissa! (I was able to open the new link, thanks!!) They look a lot like the Kong balls but rubber. I'd use these too, they seem perfectly safe. The important thing I think too is that they're made for dogs, so hopefully without all those nasty abrasive coverings and dyes.

Thats all we have here for balls is the chuck-it balls...They do get rather slimy with 6 dogs playing with it, but your right its too big to fit farther in their mouth, so its not a choking issue...and we also have the occasional playground big ball....but with Noah that usually only lasts 10 min before he kills it:rolleyes2:

The Chuck It balls look great! I will have to look into getting one. Chloe is not really interested in retrieving balls but Dandie LOVES to. Right now we just throw toys for her. Thanks for the suggestion.

They are great, my three go crazy over them, I don't know what it is about them. They like them WAY more than tennis balls. They're a bit pricey compared with tennis balls but its worth it. :smile2:

Ugh, I remember when that happened to the poor dogs tongue... It was a Four Paws Pimple Ball, and they were recalled. I wonder if its happened with other balls as well? If you google it, you can find pictures to illustrate what happened. It was like the tongue was suctioned into the ball and couldn't be removed - I know at least two dogs have had to have at least part of their tongues amputated because of it :(

My two are huge fans of Orbee balls! :biggrin2: The world balls, snowball, and Orbee Tuff Recycle balls...
Maddie's favorite toy is the strawberry... I really want to get the artichoke - I think that's a funny toy  but that's not really a ball :wink2:

It's funny how different dogs, even of the same breed have different preferences. My two don't seem to like Chuck it balls much

Living in Do land had me remove all toys so no toys are available unless I am playing with pups, safer for the dogs too.
No balls are encouraged period. They do not exist. I do have soft rubber ball with holes for retrieve/ tugging and am hoping to get really light big one so I can play nose ball with at least Che/ he is big enough/
For retrieving and exercise I got pups Aerobie which even handicapped person can throw a football field distance easily enough.
SO solution is simple- no balls:wink2:

Thats what we do at our place. They only get balls for retrieving and toys when we're playing with them.
