Screams Whe Closing Crate Door

Barb, that's what I was doing, but it wasn't working. I tried it again last night and we had some improvement. The only change I made was I practiced it when I didn't have to leave. The other times I tried treating her when closing the crate, I had to go to work. Last night, I stayed in my room with her while she was in the crate. I'm going to keep doing it for a few days and hopefully it will work.

Yes, definitely, practice when you have the time. In and out as many times as you can manage. You are correct, that its when we have to cut corners because we're in a hurry that things seem to slide. But if you've got a couple of days where you can make the time to do this, then "blitz" it. Keep at it over and over again (with breaks in between, of course!).

They are lots of fun. I am doing them with the puppy. They look forward to their reward and loose focus on the fact that the door is closing.

thanks Danielle. I watched that video when you told me to google crate games. Bailey seems to be getting better. I was able to close and lock her crate this morning with no issues. The past few nights I have been practicing closing and opening her crate and rewarding her good behavior. I did it as I watched TV. She really seemed to enjoy it. I would make her get out of the crate, go back in, lock it, treat her, etc. Hopefully, it continues to work.
