Senior sheltie had a stroke :-( Any recovery advice?

I don't know if it's the Prednisone or what, but Katy has been super active for the last several days!! Our usual play time is 10pm, but by 8pm she's whining and groaning and wanting to play! So I've been playing with her at 8 until she tires out, then playing again at 10!

I love that <3 But I suspect that it's from the Prednisone and won't last unless I decide to keep her on it.

Wanted to give you all an update!

It's been 1 month since the stroke, and Katy is still doing great! She's done with the Prednisone now, her last dose was 4 days ago and nothing bad has happened.

She's still more playful than usual, and for the last week she's been waking me up 2 1/2 hours early because she's hungry and ready get her day going! That first day she did that I was irritated, as I'd only had about 4 hours of sleep and was exhausted! But then I realized that I'm stupid and just started getting up when she shakes the bed. I can sleep when I'm old, and there will be a day when I can only wish she was waking me up! So I'll enjoy every minute that I can, while I can <3

If you saw her today, you would never believe that she had a stroke a month ago! Running, playing, barking, catching, it's truly unbelievable.

Of course, now I'm always braced for the worst, and can't sleep for fear that something will happen. And I'm constantly looking for further symptoms of a brain tumor. Not knowing is the worst!!!

I've read that life expectancy for an untreated brain tumor is 2-6 months. I guess I'll be like this until the 6 month mark, and if all is well then I can finally sleep! LOL

I have to agree with Margi, if it was a brain tumour she wouldn’t have improved back to 100%. I would think there’d be some impairment and it would continue to get worse. Say a prayer for such amazing recovery and enjoy your wonderful Katy!
