Shampooing for a show

I asked my friend who won 2015 Best of Breed at Westminster the same question! He says he's used many types.

"I use a product from Davis Manufacturing called Davis Gold. No Conditioner. I'm not sure it makes any difference what shampoo you use really. I've used all kinds. Brushing daily and keeping cost moist is best way to get good coat."

If the black color on the dog is rusting out, you can use Chris Christiansen's black on black to bring the color back.

I personally use Isle of Dogs #20 for general use.

Unfortunately, because you are located in the UK (I'm assuming from your location, correct me if I'm wrong), the products that are available to you may be different from what we have here in the US. (Though who knows? Maybe they have them there, too.)

If you are just getting started showing your dog, don't worry too much about the products that you use... there is so much for you to observe, learn, and pay attention to, and as Chris's friend suggests, there really is no "magic" product that will make your dog look amazing.

Your best bet is to ask your dog's breeder, other people who show Shelties, and other people who show similar breeds (like Collies). They will be able to help you with products that are available locally, and will be able to help you technique as well as product.

If you can get it there, I like Chris Christensen's Spectrum One line for showing. I use the shampoo and conditioner. It's made for coarse coats and won't soften them. We get it here from cherrybrook.com but Amazon may be able to get it to you also.
