Sheltie eating its own poo?

"So eating poop is a Sheltie thing? I would have never known!!"

No, definitely not a Sheltie things  many dogs of all breeds do this.

For the most part it is a bad habit.

Strangely, my dogs never done this - either as puppies or adults.
But cats poop have for all of them been a treat. :gaah

I agree Hanne! My mom has two papillons. One will do his business while the other trails behind to clean up the mess. :ick Now Cleo use to have this problem and I broke her out of eating dog poo, but if another animal poos in the yard, it is like I am trying to get her to drop a piece of steak. Sheesh.

I used Bitter Apple and that stopped my one setter. The shelties never did eat poo. Lucky they
didn't. I like that pineapple suggestion from Mally's Mom

Shelby likes to eat her frozen poo :yuck:. She doesn't eat it if it is not frozen. When she was a pup she ate it all the time. I don't understand her favoring it frozen.

I do add pineapple to her meals and this does seem to help. A soon s I see her starting to eat it we start the pineapple.

My Sheltie smokey didn't eat his own but the cats. My doxie does too but not as much as Smokey did. Spice doesn't as of yet.
