Sheltie eating its own poo?

Thanks for all your replies. I hope she'll just outgrow it. I don't think she's eating too fast... she really takes her time over her food although I may check with the vet next time I take her for her checkup if she's getting all the nutrients she needs... maybe she just wants different food? :yes:
 
Mine eat chinchilla poop. I thank heavens for small favors, since every wild thing for 40 square miles dumps on our driveway. I swear, sometimes I just stare and say, "What in the name of heaven did that????"

So eating poop is a Sheltie thing? I would have never known!!

I refer it as "dung of the day" like restaurants bill "catch of the day" or "salad of the day....."

BTW you and your dog are a beautiful couple....I can't find directions on how to do this. I am not a premier member. I have had vet bills (I am not broke, I just can't keep returning to the bank to shake my money tree (-: every month....so I need for things to settle down here.
 
As Zulu get older, he is doing it a lot less. Treats worked best for us. If we catch him early in the act, he almost always chooses the treat. But if we are late and has finished the job, treats rarely work. Go figure!

I don't understand it either. But I have had the same experience. I am a great kisser of my dogs. I no longer kiss her on the snoot, but on the diamond marking between her eyes. Makes a great kiss spot.
