sheltie friendly vacuum

Funny, aka attack vacuum, same thought here...
but I am following to see the recommendation since I just went through my FIRST full blown summer coat of sheltie proportions! Gosh I had NO idea.. I am afraid I will end up going through a vacuum a year as well

Try four Shelties blowing coat simultaneously. I'm up to my ankles. :rolleyes2:
 
We also have a Dyson and while the hair does get twisted around the roller I just pull them out every so often. The amount of hair that gets sucked up in the see through canister seems like enough to make another Sheltie and we do it every couple of days.

Thank goodness Panda's doesn't fall out so easily, well unless mom pulls it out. Panda keeps mom trimmed by pulling out a lot of Bailey's fur when in play mode.:rolleyes2:
 
I have an old Tristar/Canada Comact. Its a lot like a Filter Queen, in that it's not vacuum that you throw away in 4-5 years, it can be repaired so it will last almost forever. Mine is approx. 23 years old and my mother has a couple that are approx. 24 years old. They are amazing for picking up dog and cat hair.

They are VERY expensive to buy new though, approx. 2-3 times as expensive as a Dyson, much more affordable to buy used.
 
I didn't know shelties could herd a vaccuum. Mine hides under my bed when I turn it on. I would LOVE to own one of those Dyson ones though! The one with the round ball like they have on the commercials. It looks so cool. :biggrin2:

I must be getting old if the thought of a new vaccuum makes me happy. :uhoh:

Well, maybe I'm lucky....and maybe my boys were too young in the spring and its still to early in the fall....but I don't have a blowing/shedding hair problem at all!

Their fur mostly just sticks to them until I brush it out. Sure, there are a few loose hairs, but nothing like the blowing coat that you guys describe.

Could be the new diet perhaps? The Inflight supplement? Or just happy genetics? Or maybe, I'll get my share in a couple of weeks. If so, I'm glad for this thread, because I don't think my Kenmore can handle what you guys are discribing! :eek2::uhoh::wink2:
 
Unless you are renting are planning to move in a few years, get a Vacuflo. They will literally suck up a Christmas tree and not get stuck. The amount of dog hair and dust this thing picks up is phenomenal. The excess is vented to the outside, so no need for hepa filters. The thing is going on thirteen years and the only thing I replaced is the sock that goes on the hose. When my kids lived at home I vacuumed the downstairs every day. Now it's about every three days with the vac pan used in between. My neighbor has a different brand and it does get stuck with tree needles. So if you get one, get the Vacuflo brand. Can you tell I love my vacuum cleaner.

The downside is installation and more upfront cost. However I also had it plumbed for the front wall of the garage. So it can also be used to vac out the autos, boat, and RV.

After the guy originally installed the vac, my prior(angel) sheltie would not have anything to do with it. If the vac came out she would run to a different floor. She wasn't going to let that thing get her. The new pup thinks it's something to semi attack, though I think she is afraid it will eat her toys. That's probably because I use the hose to pick up the gillizian :rolleyes2: of toys scattered throughout the house.
