Sheltie in shelter--GA/SC

I just saw on Facebook this morning a beautiful purebred sheltie associated with a place called Palmetto Animal League. The post said "This guy is in a kill facility and is a very nice dog with time running short. Great behavior assessment. About three years old and heartworm positive. PAL will treat but needs a place for this guy to go."

My heart is just breaking...he has the absolute sweetest face. I have contacted a couple rescues in the area, and am willing to help transport, but I don't have the financial means to take in a dog right now.

Is there anyone that can help? Or has any suggestions?

(If you have Facebook, you can go here and "like" to see him: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=122403031165300&set=a.102579983147605.4444.100727643332839)

Foster found!

Just called them for more information...found out that they found him a foster today...hooray!

What a sweet looking guy.
Sometimes I feel helpless living in CA since so much help is needed so far away from me :(
I'm glad he has a place to go now.

Ashley - thank you for jumping in and trying to help! This is what it takes, a network of folks willing to help a dog in need. So glad to hear he's going into foster. Shelties just do not do well at all in shelters due to their sensitive natures. (Goes for Border Collies too, from my experience.)

Good job! :smile2:

So glad to hear someone was able to foster him. I wish I could do more, but you guys are so far away! And hubby probably wouldn't want a third, even if it was a foster, since he'd have to care for the dog.
