Sheltie spin

Does your sheltie do it? When I give Blaze his dog food he turns around real fast in a circle and finishes with a hop. He then sits politely for his dog food. And when we turn to go inside from the outside, Blaze will run ahead, then turn as if he's looking to see if I'm following, then completes the turn to go running on in. Never have seen these spins with any of the dogs I've had before, so I'm thinking that these belong solely to Shelties.

No, Minnie never do circles or spins

- She gets her food in the kitchen - staring at her bowl with dog pills - waiting for a "yes"
- I turn around and before I have walked 3 steps to the kitchen table - she is finished - she swallows simply her food in seconds :gaah

Sca gets airborne spins for food. Me and Spitfire have to give him room so we don't get taken out. Oh and picking up the chuck it! gets the same response as we head to the door.

Spitfire doesn't spin.

Cleo spins when I praise her for working. She then does zoomies as well if she is really amped up.

Angel Callahan would spin when he saw my car coming, Mackie never spun.
So far Fillion and Koko are spinless. The chuckit causes "happy hops" for lack of a better term!

All my Shelties, from 3 different lines, have spun. Brooke can be a whirling dervish! Ally does some good spins even today at almost 14. Faith will also spin if she's excited that I'm gonna throw her stick. It's very amusing. :pop

It's a very common behavior in herding dogs, and in particular in shelties. I see it at agility trials all the time. Spirit also does it whenever she gets excited.

Piper does it whenever he gets excited. When I tell him we're going to do excercize's (his obedience) he starts spinning lol. If I don't move fast enough he starts to cry haha.
