Sheltie with ongoing food aversion

wow! I looked at the thread at the very beginning and only now has read through it- so much happened, so sorry to hear that Casper left you, sweet buddy. It is tremendous sense of emptiness one gets when our animals leave us, it was tearing me apart when I lost my furbabies, at same time I knew my house will never be without pets and somehow serendipity of events will lead me to another furry presence in my life...
I firmly believe in serendipity of events, things happen for a reason even if we can not say right away what that reason was... sounds like Ciera is coming home for good...
regarding overweight- more activity and less calories will always do the trick:yes:

Just a quick update on our situation:

We met with Ciera (the other sheltie) today, and with her people. She's a total cutie who loves people (and food!), and we're going to take her home a week from Wednesday when I get back in town. We're really excited about her, although we still miss Casper a lot. One good thing, we feel, is that she's not like Casper at all, so we're really looking forward to having this new sheltie in our life, and creating new memories and experiences with her. The one negative about her is that she's pretty overweight, so we'll be scouring the forums soon for tips on controlling that.

We'll keep you all posted on this process. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers.

---Kevin and Liz

That is great news and Ciera's arrival will certainly give you something to look forward to! She sounds like a love. Lots of us here deal with doggie diet issues so there are plenty of threads and suggestions! She is lucky to have found you...seems like Casper sent you to her, and vice versa.

Keep us updated please! And pictures too!

Congratulations to you and to Ciera, she surely found a great home. You will always have wonderful memories of Casper but I'm sure Ciera will be special too.

Weight is an issue that can be brought under control. It just takes time, portion control and exercise. My rescue Baxter was 53# when he came to live with us and it took us 9 months to get him down to a proper 34#. He's looking good and feeling great. Wish you the same success with Ciera.
