Shelties in AP Picture Rescued by Japan Sheltie Rescue

hmmmm good question...never thought of it with animals...I think they could probably de-contaminate them however I fear the radiation has probably already done a number on their little bodies depending how close they are to the plant....

I had read on one of the rescue sites, the animals they are able to capture from the exclusion zone so far test low for radiation and are ok. You are correct it would depend on how far into the zone they are and how close to the site.

I'm glad to hear that people may be going in to help/feed these guys. Like I said, they don't look like they're starving nor dying. Which is a good thing.

I know here in CA, they're selling those radiation pills and there was a thing on the news too saying not to give them to your dogs. So I don't know what they can do about the radiation, but I'm hoping most of them have such low numbers it doesn't matter.

I made that photo my desktop photo. It just reminds me that there's bigger things going on in the world.

Oh my goodness....this brought tears to my eyes. I hope there is a rescue animal unit out there that will help these poor creatures out.

In spite of the devestation out there...I'm trying to find the article that mentioned about a dog that got rescued from the high seas three weeks after the tsunami destruction. Apparently this little girl ( dog) got reunited back with it's owner. It was a story that brought tears to my eyes that in spite of destruction and death that there is a glimmer of hope to have some happiness.

Do you mean the dog we talked about in this thread?
