Personally, I would have kept the bath appointment (let them do the heavy work) then you do the finer work.
I can't compete with the facilities groomers have for washing and drying dogs. Along with the pre and post brush out and nail trim. But I do share the concern about letting anybody take scissors, etc. to my dogs unless I trust them. My tuppence worth.
