Shy or Sick

This is so depressing! I swear, if I get to show, I'll take losing over wrecking a sweet Sheltie any day! But I don't believe it has to be this way. Ala Luhrs of Norwood treats all her Shelties as beloved family members. They play ball, rotate through the house, are smart and real. And all you have to do is look at the show results and see how Pop Star and Norwood Nenana are racking up the wins to see that loving care trumps greed! :wink2:

Chris I could NOT agree with you more!!!! I have been reading the posts and am very saddened at the theories out there and how these sensitive Shelties are treated, like "dumb and hungry", etc. I could not imagine taking Megan to agility or any course like that and having her freeze up be miserable, and me having to pick her up and bring her out, I don't get that..I would not do that to Megan, it's not worth it..

I know. I had heard things I've heard over the years. Don't do obedience when your doing breed they'll sit in the ring, don't do agility when your doing breed they'll act crazy in the ring, don't do obedience when your doing agility, you'll wreck your agility. Don't do agility when your doing obedience, they'll bark in the ring. Don't do tracking when your doing whatever they'll sniff in the ring. Arggh!

Good thing know nobody told Justice this. He got a best of opposite over 4 specials in Canada and a HIT in obedience on the same day. He didn't try to sit once in breed. I don't even switch collars. He also qualified and placed in agility and obedience on the same day. Our dogs are smarter then we give them credit for. I will never warehouse my dogs or I wouldn't have them.

I think it boils down to money. Once the breeder looks at the dog and sees dollar signs, that's when it starts going wrong..
