Now that you mention it I think you are right. I guess I was thinking about obedience class when they were talking about stand for exam. They were talking about the "Happy Feet Method" to get your dog to stand for exam.

I'm a newbie so I still have no clue what the "Happy Feet Method" is. :lol:

Over here we get stand stays as well as the sit stays and down stays in obedience.

Oh my word, 5 minutes stand stays are so hard! Cadbury is so used to just sitting that I spent weeks standing next to him in the stay ready to put my hand under him if he started to slip into a sit!:lol:

Oh and my trainer has now introduced 'penalty' stays. Basically if your dog moves from position everyone in the class has an extra 10 seconds put on their length of stay time.:no:

I am pleased to say so far Cadbury has only incurred penalties once, despite us doing penalty stays since the summer. (My trainer was inspired by the football World Cup - damn football!!!!!)

I know in conformation Happy Feet is a box that has pegs if you will in it that you stack your dog on so they learn proper foot placement when stacked. You know when you watch Westminster and the group winners do their free stack and every foot is in perfect placement they were prob trained with happy feet! http://www.happylegs.com/index.html

im not sure how well mine would handle being on pegs though...:wink2:

Yes! I think that is what they were talking about. They said they used it in conformation, but that you could use the happy feet to get your dog to stand a certain way for stand for exam in obedience. I bet that is it. :yes:
