Snapping When Other Dogs Get Into Her Personal Space

Yes, this is my situation with Sadie exactly.

In particular, there is a 4 month old golden doodle who tries to harass Sadie into playing with him on a regular basis. He is actually very nice and very well mannered, considering his age. He is very large but isn't overly rough with Sadie and doesn't jump on her, but he likes to bark in Sadie's face and gently pulls at her rough to try and encourage play, but she has no interest.

He'll try and get her to play till she snaps at him, then he'll follow her around from a distance. The next time they meet the whole cycle will continue again.

Again, not sure what to do in this situation, maybe in this case I should let them work it out themselves? I don't like her snapping at a young pup but can't blame her at the same time. I'm sure it would be like having a young child yelling an inch from your face.

The Golden doodle's owner does try to discourage him, but also doesn't mind that Sadie snap's at him because she knows Sadie won't hurt him and hopes it will teach her pup manners.

Also, given some of the reactions to this thread, I went back and re-read my original post and think I should explain that if another dog is down right bulling Sadie, I remove her from the situation as quickly as humanly possible. And when there are new dogs around I try to keep her close to me until I think its safe. I do my best to protect her and wouldn't hesitate to put myself between her and another dog if the need ever arises.

I wouldn't scold Sadie for protecting herself, I was more looking for suggestions on how I should handle such a situation, with regards to other dog owners.

I appreciate all of the responses :)
