I've never taught tricks, but seeing all the fun on this thread makes me want to try. I can see how it can reinforce our agility handling. Any suggestions of training books or videos to help get us started?

What does PR' stand for I know its sometimes with the pedigree but I forgot what.

'PR' is Purple Ribbon. It's given when a dog has at least six generations of known ancestors and all 14 ancestors in the last 3 generations registered with the UKC.

Nike knows roll over, shake (right paw), paw (left paw), spin, dance, "bump", touch, "hug", double-paw shake, and weave between legs.

Right now, we're learning to conga (I'm not even kidding). The master plan is to teach him to walk behind me on his hind legs with his paws on my back, then to teach Honor to follow him doing the same move.

I'm hoping Nike will catch up to Honor. She's my trick loving fool dog, and knows all of Nike's tricks plus "window", play dead, jump into arms, back stall, beg, bow, feet taps, heel between legs, and is halfway to a handstand.

I love how much they both love to learn! I'm hoping the "conga" idea will work out, and am hoping to teach Nike to play dead after that!

Those were so much fun! Love the music choices! Ab fab!

Clancy knows alot of tricks..we took a tricks class and a free style class. In free style class we learned to link some tricks together...so one of those is..he spins then rolls over several times while I step over him..I haven't stepped on him yet..LOL Another one is..he runs backwards then bows..(or moons, depending who he's facing)
He spins to the right, twists to the left, sits pretty, gives five (his right paw to my right hand) give five more (his left paw to my left hand) high fives..either one paw or both depending how many hands I hold up..LOL, Play dead, roll over...he can crawl, but doesn't like to, down with a sad face..he lays down with his head all the way on the floor and does that famous Sheltie pouty face...He can back up between my legs then circle around to the front again.
Then theres the tricks he's taught me...nudge mom with your snout and she'll figure out what Clancy wants...If he wants his butt scritched, he bumps me with his butt..LOL
I tried teaching him to pray..but guess he's a athiest, cuz we could never get the whole trick together..LOL

Trapp has learned,sit,down,shake,and half of a roll..and the one that took the longest was "wait"
