Spruce and I went and did a Jumpers course at the fun match on Sunday, he did really well in this new environment, loads of people there he didn't know and me running a full course with the intent of working on taking his line and working on distance...
He has come a long way since I got him in March, he's got beautiful form, I am very happy about our progression and how fun he is to train, no idea how I am gonna keep up with him or try to stay ahead...
Good thing I am really trying to work on my handling more than on training the dog, lol. I need it more than he does, that's for sure!!!

You better start doing sprints on a treadmill to learn to keep up with him! He's going to be blazing fast! Nice dog! He is just a newbie and needs a little more support at the jumps, but once he gets it all together he's gonna be awesome!

I was gonna say something along similar Lines, when he gets turned on to the point where he really knows what's going on you are gonna have your hands full trying to stay caught up.:biggrin2:

He looks so much like his dad running during some parts of the video and in other parts a lot like his brother. A perfect blend of the 2.

Irene you and I are going to both being doing wind sprints .:smile2:

very true, I have NO idea how I am gonna do that lol
As I told Shelli, in my mind and according to my heart rate I am dying from how fast I am running, and then seeing the video I am like wtf, it's barely a trot, yet in my mind while running I heard the chariots of fire song and everything!! lol

Since I am not planning on making him go slow I guess I'll have to speed up... and also figure out some fancy handling to be able to get the heck outta dodge once he commits to any obstacle, hahaha

I agree with the others, as he learns he will be a force to be reckoned with!

I would try to work obstacle focus a little more--build value for those obstacles. He's getting there as I can see him driving ahead on straight lines, but when he's not sure, he's turning to look at you. You definitely want to discourage that as early as you can :) Lots of rewards just for him making the choice to take jumps versus turning and looking for you.

I think I've posted it before, but stand in the middle of a jump (facing it perpendicularly) with Spruce on one side with a treat. Don't ask for a jump or make any arm movements, just wait for him to offer the jump. When he jumps, treat him on the ground on the other side of the jump. You can even toss it right in front of him. Then wait for him to offer to jump back to the other side.
