Starting Clicker training tomorrow!

I found roll-over ridiculously easy.

It probably works best once you've gotten sit completed, and then down (on belly and paws).

From the down or platz position, simply hold a treat in front of them and bring it back to the ear. This should force them to turn their head at a really acute angle to focus on the treat.
I think it took me 9-10 treats to get Boots to turn his head all the way to the side and then he rolled over.

Lots of excited praise and a treat jackpot!

Of course, now anytime I have a treat and tell him to sit, 50% of the time he goes to down, and then rolls.
I'm stopping that by saying no, sit, back up a step, and then do the sit again.

But then, I shouldn't be treating my dog nearly as much as I do. Bad trainer, bad.

Another tip is working in steps is best for clicker training.

Say you want to train your dog to roll over. First, click and treat for any side movement. Once he's got that, only click and treat for when he lays on his side. After he's got that, move on to him laying on his back, etc, etc.

Same with teaching him to crawl. First, treat for any forward movement, like just lifting a paw while lying down.

By taking it in steps, you're really teaching your dog to think about their actions, work for their treats and offer behaviors.
