Strange fear

There was someone moving into the building next to our's today. On our first morning walk, Oberon seemed curious about the new people and all the stuff. On our second morning walk, he saw one of the men (not sure if it's a new resident or someone helping with them move) walking with two parts of a bed frame on his shoulders. We were maybe 50 feet away when we saw him. Oberon started shaking, turned around as quickly as he could, and ran -- fast -- until we were not only far away but around a corner! I don't think I've ever seen him that scared of anything.

Poor Oberon! Honey had a similar freak out recently when we had a tradesman working at our place. She had got used to him being about, but when he approached the house with a ladder on his shoulder I thought she was going to have a heart attack! I guess they just don't like people carrying big, strange objects

Poor Boy!
I would say Minnie is skeptical but not afraid of anything

The other day we were down and help my sister with a floor and some lists, and my sister had to wear some of the lists out of the house -- suddenly away was Minnie :confused2:

I did not understand anything, I called and called, so I could hear Minnie barked from the other side of the house.

Then my sister says that Minnie rushed out when she took these lists - so yes - Minnie are afraid of long lists

Oh so THAT explains it. Yesterday we had a landscaper powerwash our house (actually courtesy son). From the first noise of the water hitting the house Blaze had that "what's happening?" look and for the time it took to powerwash until things were finished, we were "treated" to high pitched barking and running--I swear that it was an hour or two. I thought for sure that he would lose his voice. Wouldn't stop. Wouldn't be distracted. And he expended so much panicked energy that last night was the very first night that he slept until the alarm clock rang.

Look at it from your dogs view. He sees this man with a huge thing sticking out of his shoulder. What is that??? That is soo scary! Run away!
One time my son came to the house wearing a cowboy hat. Cody had never seen him with a hat on, and he freaked out. Would not go near him, until he took off the hat. Even then, he was highly suspicious of strange looking thing that was on his head!
