Stray Sheltie at Shelter in Ohio

An awful thing happened at Detroit Dog Pound. A pit bull was found extremely emaciated and bleeding at an ACE hardware in Detroit. They called Detroit Dog Pound to get him. He was named Ace. His story made the news and many people and rescue groups wanted to adopt him. A court order was issued to not kill Ace. Detroit Dog Pound euthanized him. His owner was looking for him and claims he was stolen. There is a huge outcry over this senseless killing.

I am so glad they got him out! I live an hour away from Mansfield, their pound is not a good place to be!

Danny's mommy, Detroit does not adopt out pits at all. It is the same with our shelter, they will try and place puppies with a rescue but most of the time the rescues are so full they wont take them either.

What does that mean, they've taken care of him? He looks so sad and scared, I just want to hold him and cuddle him, make him feel better. Poor baby.

That means I went over to the National Sheltie Rescue yahoogroup and checked to see if any rescue had already contacted the shelter. The answer was yes.

Dannysmommy, I've got to say something stinks about the 'owners' story. She just didn't seem genuine, and the publicity was so heavy, yet it took her well over a week to turn up. I question whether that was a lost dog or if she knew she may be 'outed' for allowing the dog to get like that. Unfortunately, in Detroit this is not an unheard of condition to find a dog in owner's care.
