Strongly considering entering the Sheltie world

I'm slightly surprised at the seemingly quite low concentration of us. Ah well.

I can't stop looking at pictures, videos and articles. The next month and a bit is going to go by so slowly.

Welcome to the forum.

That is one seriously cute pup!

We have an almost one year old pup, named McKinley (a.k.a The Mess Maker or MMM) who is not a barker. He is as rowdy as the next pup, but just isn't verbal.

We have been cautious about barking because our last sheltie LOVED to bark!

We taught McKinley to bark on command at an early age and then taught him the "no bark" command. It has worked like a charm.

Good Luck with you Pup!

^^Thanks. :smile2:

Just out of interest, are there many other British people on here?
You can go to the member list and do an advanced search on the location. Not perfect but I put in UK and got 6-7 folks. Labgirl is active and might be able to point to others. Also consider my search would have missed you since you have London...

Y'all should have a UK Sheltie party :wink2:

Welcome to the Forum. Your little pup-to-be is adorable. I have a 4-1/2 year old sable boy and although I did try, Spencer is a barker. But after we've been out and about or when we play 'fetch' for what seems like hours, he's usually too busy napping to yap too much. Also what I've realized is that he doesn't bark at all from 6ish at night to 9 in the morning. Considerate Sheltie, huh?

^^Thanks. :smile2:

Nope. None. British? Bah. I don't think Brits are allowed to own shelties. (cackle)

Sophie (Labgirl) is on a personal mission to drive hersself crazy waiting on getting a sheltie.

The pics of your little guy are very cool! You must be excited!!

Careful now, or we'll take 'em and stick 'em all back in Scotland. And Wales - they're swimming in sheep round there.

Massively excited. I think it'll hit home even more the more learning and the more buying of dog-related stuff I do. Still trying to decide on a name.

I actually really like Strider for a dog... though not so much for a Sheltie. No other Tolkien names seem anywhere near appropriate. (I actually had a quick rummage through the Silmarillion appendices in case there was something)

"Dylan" is probably the frontrunner at the moment.
