Sueing over Dogtreat Deaths.

I feel terrible for all those owners who lost their beloved pets. We are so careful about what treats we feed our three Shelties and often refuse treats from friends and our groomer who are just trying to be nice. I'm not taking any chances. I hope the FDA doesn't back down on this issue. Seems like China doesn't care what they put into products they export as long as they can make a buck. Sad.

I'm also very careful. I like to use mostly boiled chicken and I make the sweet potato chips. Miss Sadie loves both and I feel safe.

I have a couple of recipes that I bake and freeze some - my guys love them.

I feel so bad for those who have lost their beloved pets. Who would think something as simple as a dog treat would be deadly? Guess we can't be too careful these days.

I have come a long way from beggin' strips and other nasty treats...(my vet said beggin' strips were like feeding your dog a side of bacon!). I make all my own treats now too. I love this forum for the ideas and the information which has lead me to be a much better pet owner.....

Honestly, I'm glad they're suing. Especially since no one will issue a recall.

The other day, while I was at Costco, I saw a woman with a big bag of chicken jerky treats in her cart. I politely told her that those treats weren't recalled but are a HUGE suspect in dogs dying. I told her to stay away from any chicken jerky and sweet potato stuff from China. (now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure they were the Waggin' Train ones, jeez! like anyone needs a Costco sized bag of death).

She was nice and thanked me and told me she was going to return it (we were in the food line).

I try and tell everyone I see about the dang treats. I'm pretty sure, but not 100% that the time Koji was really sick for about a week, was due to those damned treats (different brand, but still made in China).

I was in Petsmart the other day scoping out the treats and the associate came over and asked if I needed help. Nope just looking for interesting new treats for the dogs.. She said oh we have this new line for us, Milo's kitchen that has been popular. It looked great from the front, soft breakable interesting and maybe healthy.

Turns out icky ingredients, ie sugar, BHA and tons of artifical crap, flipped it over and made in China. Nope back it went. She seemed surprised by my reaction. Told her I will never fed anything made in China or with the much artifical junk. Most of dog owning public has no clue.

GO to the website and read the statment from the company. Nothing has been proven so your good right. http://miloskitchen.com/faqs-chicken-jerky-dog-treats.htm

It's so frightening. I think this lawsuit may awaken pet stores to avoiding Chinese products. We feed homemade treats exclusively.

I must admit, I used to feed my dear little Shelties a lot of different treats, including Beggin' Strips and Chicken jerky, also Milo's Kitchen. When I read on the forum that the last two were causing deaths in our beloved pets, I immediately threw them away! No more Beggin' Strips either. I am so glad that I am a member of the forum and learned this very, very important information. Thankfully, none of my dear little babies ever got sick from these treats. I know God watches over me and my little precious babies and I thank Him every day.

Does anyone have a good site for me to learn how to make my own treats? We do not have a working oven right now (just a small toaster oven) and a microwave. Right now their treats are vegetables, and they eat them fine. And they are good for them, especially my latest little rescue, Ritchie, who is Sheltie and something else and needs to lose weight.

I too hope all the pet owners whose dogs died get some consolation from the lawsuit and hopefully, a ban on these dog treats everywhere. Why don't the treats state exactly where they were made? It isn't right that we see a company from the United States' name on the product and it isn't even made here!

Wishing everyone who loves their dog the best of everything.:hugs

Maida, owned by sweet Christopher, sweet Ritchie and my eight wonderful little precious Sheltie angels
