Poor Beckon! Yesterday, I took him to work because I wasn't going to have enough time to get home and pick him up before Rally class. I was in and out of my office all day. Students came in and wanted to meet my shy guy, who wanted nothing more than to avoid everyone. He had two big runs outside, and at 3:30, we went to a Crabfest my 16 seminar students hosted. He got in the car at 5:30 with crab crumbs clinging to his fur.
When we got to Rally -- a hour and a half drive -- he was just stoopid tired. He did beautifully through 10 stations, including his first off-leash jump, and then he just blanked out. "What? You want me to do what, Mom? Come? What's 'come?' I'm sooooo tired, Mommy."
We tried a couple more, stations, but he just was whomped on his feet. After a bit of a rest, he did half a run on-leash for support before class was over. I will never ask him to work after a full Sheltie day again.

Pats and friends and crab, no less. Still, I found out the hard way too that our Shelties are creatures of habit and like their routine. They love outings and classes and shows and trips, but too much of a good thing wears them out.
