Switch foods or something else?

We got our sheltie, Batman, a few months ago; he's 2 and half years old. His previous family fed him Purina Dog Chow, but after reading some threads we switched him over to Blue Buffalo chicken and rice formula. We switched slowly and had no problems for about the first month, but the past week or so he's had some very loose stools and had two accidents in the house. We haven't introduced anything new (treats or otherwise) so I'm not sure what could be the driver. Could it be the food even though Bat was fine for a month or is it something else? Do people recommend trying a new food or waiting a bit longer? Looking for some suggestions... Thanks!!

Usually when I switched my girls over if it didn't agree with them it happened within the first few days. Is he having any other symptoms? Do you have a record of his history? Perhaps the previous owners have had an experience like this with him before. It could be any number of things, like a bacterial infection, my Fiona is prone to those and the loose stool/accidents is exactly what happens to her. Hopefully whatever it is it's an easy fix.

Usually if our dogs have loose stools, we hold their food for 24 hours and then give them a bland diet of chicken and rice. Then slowly introduce the kibbel back to them.

If he continues to have loose stools after this, it maybe some type of internal parasite and you will need to see a vet.
