Yesterday we had our second T&A comp. Sparrow did two agility courses, both Es, but it was good practice as the first agility course she missed her contacts and I made her re-run the equipment to get them right. Second agility course she nailed them.
I am nicknaming her my 'All or Nothing Girl' because she either goes clear and wins her class or gets eliminated
Merlin was a star, but oh his mum needs to improve her timing! Now he is so driven I need to get my turn commands in a lot, lot earlier! I lost him once on a course due to a late command. That is my work in progress! However we still came away with a 1st and a 2nd, so I was thrilled.
Here's the breakdown:
Merlin
Elementary Jumping ~ silly mum pushed into his line and made him miss a jump
But his tunnel drive and turns were faultless!
Elementary Agility ~ Too late with a turning command and he drove on. I stop-framed the video and saw I did not give the turn command until he had already taken the jump. I can't afford to do that with new mojo Merlin!
Elementary Steeplechase ~ after a quick lunchtime refuel and hot chocolate (my agility secret!) we ran the Steeplechase really nicely. I worked hard to give early commands, still could have been better on my part. But a nice 1st place
Elementary Power and Speed ~ First part of this course is not timed, you just need to get round without faults, so I took it steady. Then it was the 'speed' section involving a race to the finish. I was the first medium dog, and I hung around to see how the second medium did. I knew it was going to be tight when she cleared the power section without a fault. She beat me by 0.5 seconds, but I was actually really pleased for her as she is a rescue poodle that has had a lot of issues and I know her handler.

Anysize Jumping ~ Cracking run from Sparrow and first place, we actually beat the second place dog by 21 seconds. (we may get kicked out of Anysize soon!)
Anysize Agility ~ she missed her running contacts, so I took her back and re-ran them. Decided that was more important than avoiding being eliminated.
Anysize Power and Speed ~ we made our contacts this time, but Sparrow got ahead of me and took the wrong jump, then she misjudged her pacing on a line of jumps and completely took one out. She is fine, thankfully!
Anysize Steeplechase ~ by now Sparrow was quite tired and she missed a jump and then carried on straight rather than turning, but there was a lot of good stuff in this run and I was really pleased with her overall performance

All in all a great day with lots of good things and a few glitches to work on

I bet if someone had shown you those videos of Merlin at the beginning of the year you would have said you wished Merlin would run like that - now look at him go!! The drive and focus is so much improved and his weave performance is super!
