Tarra is depressed

Just yesterday I got a lovely little Sheltie puppy baked, Shay. My current Sheltie (Tarra) has been acting very down lately. She won't even accept my food! I keep trying to pet her, and spend time with her too, but she is very depressed. Will she get used to the puppy after a while? I hate to see my little girl so upset. :( She is usually so happy, and loving.. Now I can barely get her tail to wag.:no:How can I make her feel better? Will she ever be the same?

Well, there will definitely be an adjustment period any time you introduce a big change.

I would take this time to make sure Tarra knows how much you love her. Spend some one on one time with her (with Shay at home) doing whatever Tarra loves--whether it's taking a walk, or going for a ride, or doing some training. Maybe it's just cuddling on the couch. Do those things when Shay is napping or in her crate. It's important that Tarra know she isn't being replaced.

She will adapt. Everybody goes through changes when a new baby comes home. The little one will win her over. Don't worry.
