Tears and stains from only one eye

Dag, Darren, sorry that didn't clear up. But it's Monty so never easy, amirite??

Honestly that is so right Margi lol. In Montys short time with me it has been one thing after another! One day I'll take him to a vet who will say "ahh I know what it is, take 2 of these and he'll better in a day"

Sorry to hear Monty is still having problems, Darren. I hope the new drops clear it up. If it's not conjunctivitis or an infection it's almost got to be some slight irritation, especially since it's only one eye. I'm assuming they checked his eyelids for styes. Checkers had a stye on one eye years ago that kept recurring and caused the same kind of irritation Monty has. Can you lift his upper and lower eyelids and check? We treated Checkers with various drops and treatments but she eventually needed to have it surgically removed. I sure hope Monty doesn't need that, knowing what he's been through with vets already!

Thanks Ann, just to be sure I've had a look and can't see anything on/around his eyelids. They checked his actual eye for scratches etc but didn't mention his eyelids so I'll ask them to look if they didn't if/when I have to go back next week.

I forgot to mention that when Finnie was a pup he had very runny eyes, more one than the other. I gave him a teaspoon of Greek yogurt daily and it cleared it right up. He now gets kefir (1 tablespoon) daily and it's never come back.

Thanks Lisa, It can't hurt to try. I'll pick some up this weekend!

Sure hope the eye drops clear up his eye! Glad Mr Broccoli could attend the vet visit and provide much needed moral support since dad could not be there!
Let us know how he progresses! Can they culture the discharge from the eye to evaluate if it is a bacterial infection?

Thanks Gloria, I think they said they'll have to run tests if these drops don't clear it so I'm assuming it will taking samples of his discharge.

Thanks everyone :hugs I'm giving him his drops twice a day (and pretend ones for Mr Broccoli, I think I'm going crazy ) so I'm hoping I will see improvements soon. Sharon you're right, the outside of his eye is looking very red but I'm not sure if I've caused that with too much cleaning. Hopefully we don't have to go back to the vets for a while but nothing easy with Monty so I'm sure it won't be as simple as just putting drops in for a week :rolleyes2:.
