As a long standing Arachnophobe, and a native Buckeye, brown recluses were my biggest fear. Glad he got all better!!

The only spider I’ll move outdoors is the daddy long legs …don’t know why, I’ve just always liked them. I’d never touch them though!Hey someone has to stand up for our arachnid friends here!! In our house we tolerate spiders, they actually do a lot of good- they look scary but unless you try to crush them they leave well enuf alone. Only two species in Am can not be tolerated, the black widow and brown recluse- those guys have to go even tho I had a friend who used to let BW crawl on him all the time, never got fanged- just don't try to pet them. I get fanged occasionally when I sleep and they crawl on me and I unconsciously wipe them off- have been hit twice on the nose, once on the hand and back of my neck no big deal and no pain. Our pups try sniff them and the pick them up to taste them when they see them crawling across the floor. We just pick them up gently with a paper towel and take them outside.. They do eat a variety of insects including fleas in the house. Really only two species cause any big problems the others are just natures clean up crew. Like bats and wolves spiders have a bad rep..
We also got black widows and wolf spiders. Brown recluses like wood piles (so do wolf spiders) and barns. Not sure on predators but I bet lizards and I am thinking one spiders eats the others....
