The countdown begins

Shoelaces, underwear, bras, flipflops.... Deacon loves to chew stuff up even now. Brodie was a wallboard and baseboard chewer and grew out of it.

Life was easy when Brodie came in, the chewing was short lived. Then Deacon arrived and the rules started... don't leave your jackets hanging on the chairs or your zipper pulls will be gone, don't leave shoes on the floor or same for your laces, don't leave underwear or socks on your floor cuz they'll get eaten, don't leave the closet doors open or the coat closet door ajar. Leave laundry in the laundry bins until it's time to wash - keep the laundry basket on the counter in the powder-room while doing laundry. Then Gizmo came and more rules - we have signs at the front and back door to growl at him and be scary if he goes near the doors (he got out and it required 4 hours and pulling up the floor of our shed to get him), there is a sign on the door to the game room in the basement to leave ajar and I bought a door stopper for it. There is a sign in the laundry closet to check for Gizmo before starting any load.

I thought rules would be for the pets when we started adding them but nope, rules are for sheep!

Have fun with Davy - he'll be keeping you on your toes for a while! :)

yeah- it's been 9 years since there was a puppy so remembering everything is taking a while.....

looking into some baby gates so I can contain him in certain areas.........
Dixie chewed some shoelace tips when she was a youngun......

We used a baby gate when Oberon was little to keep him out of the living room. Was going to do the same with Oreo but the gate we had was too narrow and just haven't gotten a new one yet; probably won't at this stage. We do have a gate that closes off the stairs (live in a ranch with a basement). The basement is the cat's territory and I want him to have that as a safe space.

I was able to save the shoe and give him something else to put in his mouth:winkgrin:

Not surprisingly there is a name for those called aglets and for whatever reason Shelties love em.. I have had to super glue a number of my ex aglets on a variety of shoes.

With our current bunch our girl is or was a big digger--she goes after squirrels and chipies. Right after she came home she dug under our back deck and we couldn't get her out- I think she was escaping or exploring?? Finally an agile friend got down, crawled into the hole and pulled her out. We piled rocks up so that would not happen again. I am sure she would have come out sooner or later but I was afraid she might be stuck. I would hate to have had to bring her water and food for the rest of her life cause our deck was not coming up--kidding of course.

Cooper age 4 has never chewed anything but his toys and toilet paper! The toilet paper we solved and his toys are handpicked before the Terminator starts on them. Hubby and I have commented on that and then……….we went to the grocery store a couple of weeks ago and came home to hubby’s leather moccasin missing about an inch of leather and the lace. Bad Cooper, bad!!! lol. I was worried he would get sick, but thank goodness it went through with no grief. He has had the run of the house for 6 months with no issue. Lesson learned…slippers up! LOL
