The kicker was both girls ripping open a bag of alfalfa pellets meant for my bunny. They both chowed down. (I mean really, ALFALFA PELLETS??!!) The next day there was so much green poop all over it looked like we had 10 dogs.
I don't have any photo evidence of either set of dogs having been naughty, but the boys definitely were. (The two girls I have now are just naturally well-behaved and polite.)
Max (an "honorary" Sheltie = actually a Border Collie) had a naughty streak a mile wide! He was a big guy - 65 pounds and not an ounce of fat on him. He could also escape from any crate or room you put him in, short of nailing the door shut.
I came home from work one day to behold all 65 pounds of goofiness not just surfing the countertops, but STANDING on the counter top with all 4 feet, and attempting to open the upper cabinet door where the dog treats were kept. When he knew he'd been spotted, he froze with a look of sheer terror on his face (as if I'd EVER beat him).
He continued to do this for several years until I moved to a place with pantry closet he couldn't open (oh for humans being blessed with opposable thumbs that can work doorknobs!).
Puppy Layla rrrrrripped the bottom out of an upholstered dining room chair (one of a set of six that DH nabbed at the Restoration Hardware outlet because "I want to be comfortable enough to linger at the table"). Since she had just unraveled the edge of the stair rug, she was already skating on thin ice.
Fortunately, DH was out of town on business. DS and I raced the chair to an upholsterer with orders that it had to be finished in three days -- cost be hanged! We made it, too!!
