The new kid in town (and her Sheltie puppy)

Welcome to the forum. Nova is very cute.

No they register Sable merles. My friend has a sable merle sheltie named Pike. He is fully AKC, UKC and Canadian registered. He has his AKC UD, RE and is pointed in AKC conformation, he is also a UKC Grand champion(breed) and has 7 points towards his Canadian CH. My Ember's sister is a sable merle and has her AKC MX ,MXJ, UD and is well on her way to her MACH, she also has AKC breed points which she got before she was spayed.

Nova couldn't show in AKC breed because of his blue eye but he can do everything else. If you can't get full AKC registration you can get a PAL # and compete in preformance events.

Oooh I didn't know that. Okay, I'm learning a lot already. I was told that AKC won't register her because she is sable merle, but I'm glad that isn't true. As for the one blue eye thing...I think that's stupid. Her eyes are part of what makes her so beautiful, I think.

Oh well. At least I know the things I can do with her now. Thanks so much for the info!

If your sheltie is from an AKC litter (both parents AKC registered) then you can register the puppy- even as sable merle. If you do not know the parentage, then you can get PAL listing for performance (obedience/agility etc).
Cranberry is registered as a sable merle and his sister Dixie is registered as a sable. Dixie has gotten a little darker- shading into mahogany. Cranberry has been all over the spectrum with his colors but his darker brown coat area is shading into mahogany now too.

I saw you post in another thread in this forum- what a beautiful merle you have! Sable merles are not something I'm used to seeing, so it's nice to see what many of them grow up to look like. Cran is gorgeous!

Thanks- I saw my first sable merle sheltie at an AKC conformation show. Truly stunning. That's when I decided I wanted one but also that I wanted one that you could tell that it was a merle. I already had a mahogany sable girl so floating in the back of my mind was get a boy. and then Cran was born, I saw his picture and shortly after, he came home

Welcome (although late again) thanks for posting photos right away she is a looker!
I can tell we have another agility addict errr, I meant enthusiast in our midst...
Once you start there is NO turning back and next thing you know you buy a big SUV and/or a Van and another dog or two... cuz agility is addictive and the addiction needs to be fed, lol
