Over the years I have had several Shelties with lipomas and liquid filled cysts- some were pretty big but the vet tho't at his elder age the trauma of removing it would be more than just leaving it be. Not sure is Shelties are predisposed to these things or not?/

Most of mine have had a cyst or two, and I just let them be. AFTER getting them checked for cancer of course. Its more for my peace of mind. The only exception was Fil--he had one on his rear back that was actually bothering him. You couldn't touch his butt without him jumping. Dr said that cyst went VERY deep and no wonder it was hurting him.
So two of six shelties had no cysts. Three were from the same line. Probably genetic.
