Thyroid Numbers

Barb, they took Pee-Wee off her meds 3 mos. ago and wanted to check again when she came back for her annual checkup the end of July. The only reason she was on them in the first place was due to her getting winded on our walks.

At her visit in July, the vet said her coat looked good and she didn't show any signs of of thyroid defiency (spell check:lol:) and decided she didn't need testing anymore. Keep in mind though, this was 2 different vets but, at the same office. The second vet also said she wasn't really overweight either! I will definitely request that vet at future visits. It's frustrating when you get completely different diagnoses.

That's really good info.
I can't decide what to do. I guess I should call the vet but I expect I'm just going to get the same story.

Perhaps its time for another opinion.....

Bloodwork booked for next week.

I've asked for Bile Acids, T3, T4 and ALT as a minimum. Wondering about AST.

Bacca is supposedly hypothryoid (on meds) and has some potential yet undiagnosed liver issues which we a treating with milk thistle and slightly reduced protein diet.

He was last tested in October (I didn't realize it was that long ago). His Bile Acid's Pre and Post didn't make sense to me because they were the same level. Still over the top at 254 vs. a normal range of 0-15.

But his T4's were fine. They did not test for T3 then.

Memo to file: Bacca shows zero symptoms of either disease. Never has. This only started because of a mouth infection 2 years ago that required blood work to be done.

I'll wait until the results of the next bloodwork, but frankly, I'm truly wondering about this.
