Tough Decision - Advice Needed

Well, I've been to the Susan Salo foundation seminar last year. Maia did really, really well. Maia 99.9% of the time does not knock bars, in fact, the only time she did was because I got in her way. What I am looking forward to is going to the Advanced Susan Salo seminar now that I've taken the foundation one. That is where I think I will learn the most because we work through distractions and jumping etc. The foundation seminar can be a bit dry and boring, but it is necessary in order to be able to take the Advanced seminar in the future. So I guess my advice would be, can you afford it? and do you plan on using the grids? and do you plan on continuing to the advanced grids? From what people here have said about Susan Salo, is that the real learning occurs at the advanced seminars.

I think I answered my own question, at least as far as Nationals in concerned if not regarding this seminar.

I was looking at the website for ASSA Nationals and saw they finally posted the Performance Premium. Well, the cost of the runs for the agility trial really put the nail in the coffin on Nationals for me. $40.00 for the first run + $25.00 for the second run (FAST isn't offered) is just a bit more than I'm willing to pay for an agility trial; especially one I have to drive 12 hours to get to.

All the trials local to me cost $24.00 for the first run and $13.00 for any additional runs. So I can do weekend trial locally for $10.00 more than the one day at Nationals and earn the same title. Who knows, maybe I can earn his title at the Three Rivers Shetland Sheepdog Group of Greater Pittsburgh trial later this year. Edan's breeder is always at that one and I KNOW she'd love to see him run and earn a title.

Will I go to the seminar? I don't know. (TDAA's National is also in St. Louis this year, in October.) But I won't be at Sheltie Nationals.

After hearing the price of the entry for Sheltie Nationals I can't say as I blame you for not going. That is pretty hefty for one day.

Oh ouch. Maybe I should start saving my money for 2013. LOL. I think it was 2013. Wonder what I'll be doing by then. Anyhow, that is really steep. I pay about what you pay. For me, it wouldn't be too bad, no hotel, no long drive (max 1 hour), etc. Hence why I'd like to go to the one when it comes closer.

I don't blame you for not going to that one. I say go to the other one where you'll see Edan's breeder. How fun would that be for her and you guys? :)

$40 is standard entry for a National, in all venues.
