Traffic lead

Jaynie- Out of curiosity, what width traffic lead do you have ? I'm wondering which would be suitable. Given that they are leather (and strong), do you think that a small width( of say 3/8") would be fine for shelties of 20 - 25 lbs ?

Katherine - I have two - both are 3/8" wide, but one is plain (only braided where the clasp and handle are attached, and one that is braided the entire length. I used both these on my 67-pound Border Collie, Max, so they are pretty sturdy. My current Sheltie, Bela, is 20 pounds, and NOT obedience trained, but the 3/8" does fine with her. I have accumulated an extensive set of leashes over the years, and all of them are 3/8" - in different braids/unbraided and lengths (6 foot, 2 foot, 2 1/2 foot). All of them have their handy uses.

I make my own leashes, I get a small clip from the hardware store or have found some very small clips at the dog show vendors. I like to use cotton cord and add some beads to make it pretty, and I get to pick the perfect length!

I haven't braided leather, but I've crocheted with colored drapery cord and it makes a sturdy leash.

Leashes aplenty here, it is something of a fetish...
