Treat Dispensing Toys

Omygoodness, yes.. I forgot about this method.Trapp loves these,and it's a differant fun way to eat.When he was just a little pup,we had bought a six pack of those small coke bottles.They were just the right size. I now keep some on hand for the grand dogs.
 
treat balls

I used this one a lot....the ball is bigger, but the place where the food is isn't that big. Gavin would pick up the ball and throw it to get the food out faster :)
it does get dirty easy, though....

I also used an automated kong dispenser with a variety of smaller treat balls. that way he got the food scattered throughout the day (and hopefully lessen boredom related mischief!)
 
There is a cool treat dispensing toy that I've seen in Australia but nowhere else so far. It's like a treat ball that hangs from the wall/ceiling/something above with a rope that the dog pulls on to get treats out. Might be amusing for awhile but think shelties will get bored of it quickly!

The dog pyramid is Romeo's (and my) fave so far. I think tho' that whacking and chasing the toy around has become rewarding on its own coz he's left a trail of treats on the floor before from the spinning toy (so engrossed is he in playing with it!)

Max & Fred are the same way. Fred could never figure it out but Max loves it. We put Fred's kibble in a small treat ball.

If its the one I am thinking of its really popular for staffys - people I know hang them on their clothes line and they dogs can play all day trying to tug it as it spins around on the clothese line . I brought one of these tug toys for my two but it was too tough for them (as in too sturdy). I agree, what keeps a staffy occupied all day would probably get boring for a sheltie. I regularly rotate how they get their breakfast kibble. treat dispenser, treat bottle, treasure hunt - must say they never tire of the treasure hunt!
 
They spin around hanging on to it?? Can't see Romeo doing that. He won't want to mess up his fur! :lol: Yes I regularly rotate mine too. Else I'll get the "what? THAT again?" look. Sigh!
