tree sap in fur

Estella loves to romp in the wooded underbrush of our backyard. Even better, she has selected a spot in the far corner behind a large oak and a stand of bushes where she does the majority of her business.

Unfortunately, she now has spots of sticky tree sap embedded in her lovely fur. Does anybody have tips for removing it?

I went on line and a groomer said they use a shampoo called F and T by Les Pooch Company. She said dogs come in all the time with tree sap. Only thing is, is that it looks like you have to order it.

Another person said peanut butter, the oiler the better. Then use a wide tooth to comb it through where the tree sap is. Then one or two baths with a dog shampoo are needed.

Hope this information is helpful.

I wonder if the stuff we use to get glue off puppies ears would work, like unisolve? Hmm. This situation sounds like a nightmare (second to skunks).. I hope I never encounter it!

Yes - detachol or unisolce would work. Also Goo Gone (at the hardware store ) but try rinse either of the products well after.

Thanks! The peanut butter worked quite nicely. She certainly enjoyed licking off the remains.

It is nice to see her turn looking clean again.
