I'm glad this thread reappeared because I forgot I was going to post a video of Edan at Treibball practice so you could see what we do.

Do you know what type of balls were used?
For the most part, standard exercise balls are used. The size of the ball depends on the size of the dog. For example, a toy dog, like a Yorkie or Papillon would use something closer to the size of a soccer ball.
There are two size categories defined by ATA (American Treibball Association), Standard and Teacup. Standard is any dog taller than 17 inches at the shoulder. Teacup is 17 inches or smaller.
For the balls, a Standard dog would use a ball 45cm to 85cm. A Teacup classed dog would use either a 25cm - 45cm ball or a 45cm - 75cm. The balls we are using in the video are 42cm. (Edan and CJ are 14.5 and 14.25 inches respectively so we went to the larger end of the smaller balls.) I had to buy them online because most stores only carry the 55cm or larger balls.
We actually started training with the larger balls. What we found when we switched to proper sized balls was they both got a bit more accurate because they could see over the ball. Edan use to bounce behind the larger balls between each push so he could see where I was and that has stopped since he can see how.
