Tremors?

My Jewel was the same would jump in your lap and shiver and paw at you like HELP !!:lol: Isn't it aweful how they get us all concerned. Thank God it was just the wind, Spak. I'm glad.Sheltie Hugs to Ginger.:yes:
 
Callie is also afraid of loud thunderstorms- she wants to be in a sheltered spot and she also wants to be petted and loved at the same time. I have known other dogs that had way worse reactions so I'm not too worried about her.
 
Spak, you reminded me of the time we had a thunderstorm and couldn't find Bear the Big Red Dog (now at the Bridge). We searched ands called, only to check behind the shower curtain and find him cowering in the bathtub. Poor old boy!
 
Cookie used to hide under chairs, tables, wherever she could. She would stick as close to me as possible, yet as hidden from the thunder as possible.:rolleyes2: She would have hidden under or inside me if she could.:lol:
 
I'm very lucky in that my lot so far seem to be okay with loud noises. I do have friends that have dogs who are afraid though and amongst the things they've tried with success are a dap diffuser, rescue remedy and believe it or not a tee shirt. I don't know if any of you have tried it yet but seemingly if you put a tight tee shirt ( not to tight that you cut of their circulation ) on your dog it makes them feel safe and can lessen their fear. As I said I've never tried it but others have some of them with very good results.

My Shelties are afraid of thunder and wind too. They will cower and hide. I try to give them a Stress Free Complex pill mixed into some canned food. It takes about half hour to calm them. We also put a bath towel over them, it seems to help shelter them as they are hiding from the storm. I feel so bad for them with their fear.

Yes--get her to a vet ASAP. Last year my 10-year old sheltie was showing the first serious symptoms of Kidney Failure by periods of shaking and trembling. He first started the shakes in the car 2 mos. before diagnosis and his appetite declined. He would hang his head because (I think) his stomach was upset. Kidney failure causes nausea due to stomach acidity. Mine got kidney failure from Lyme Disease (primarily) and the dog food recall.

I'm so sorry to hear that you were a victim of the contaminated dog food. I was just talking with my Life's Abundance dog food consultant, and she said that many people have already forgotten about it. Not me -- and thanks to some good advice from this forum, I was able to research and compare dog foods and choose a really good one.
 
Let us never forget the recalls on pet foods !

This forum has educated me as well Chris. Our dogs may eat POO but they do need a quality food to off set this.:lol: Just kidding. Seriously though keep the quality of the dog food always in mind so none of us lose our Shelties over poor quality food additives.:sadsmile:
 
The contaminated dog food was so sad, and really makes me wonder about some of the manufacturers.

Seriously, stick to the high-quality stuff.

Ginger's blood test results are in - clean bill of health! Vet said it might be possible she's starting to go senile, and she's definitely starting to lose her vision, which might be why she's being so easily frightened, but at least there's nothing immediately threatening.
