Trixie And Peanut leash.

was in a touristy area today- saw dog bandannas- the kind with a seam that you slide the collar through. ended up with one for each dog and matching harnesses. it'll be a few days until I can get pix. they're going to end up with way too much stuff. at least I didn't buy the matching leashes :wink2:
 
I bough two just as you described at a flea market a few weeks ago.They slide right over the collars.Got on for Trapp And one for Earnhardt. They were only 2.00,all hand made
 
At the Laeashes By Design site, can they be adjusted to fit the dog as it grows? I've been using the same collar for Smudge, but I have had to adjust the size several times because of how much he is growing. If you can't adjust them then I'll just wait until he's a little older to get one.

Those bandanas are just so awesome.I now have the pattern,really will not be hard to make more. I can't wait to see Trapp in his.It's light blue with dog bones all over it.

The one I had for Earnhardt,my neighbor fell in love with it.So I gave it to her for her terrier mix. This same lady was the one I bought the cook book from that had all the dog & cat food & treat recipes. That was only 3.00,and was well worth it,it has alot of recipes in there.

The collars that Barb and I got are not adjustable so measuring accurately is very important. If Smudge is still growing, I would probably hold off until he's done. Callie's rolled collar adjusts down to 14" and it slips over her head so that was one of the measurements I sent to them. Her LBD martingale slips over her head easily and once it's on, she can't back out of it.
There are adjustable with buckles martingale collars available but they are much wider- they may only come in regular flat collar style- I didn't spend much time with that type since I was looking at the rolled style leather and once Barb took the plunge to see how it worked, then I still waited until I was sure that I would actually use it.

Like she said.....

It really depends on what you want. If you want adjustable, you need to got with a heavier weight collar to accomodate the buckle.

But if you are pretty sure where you pup has stabilized, then you can go with the non-adjustable.

One thing to be aware of: these collars fit generally loose around their necks at rest (yet still buried in their ruffs) until they are attached to something. If you need to grab your dog, you need to grab the chain portion. The chain portion always slides beneath their neck. If you grab the leather portion they can still slip the collar.

These collars are really intended for ideal walking and the ability to hold a tag or two for identification but can be worn 24 x 7.
