Tully is not good

Another rollercoaster. Tully refuses to pee and then last night, at 2am the flood gates opened, on the rugs and a walking pee so I was up cleaning. Today she refused to drink and pee again. Admittedly it's pouring rain, but I'd take her outside and she'd just go back up the ramp to the door. I think it hurts her to squat - but she will insist on walking around the yard first, and refuses letting me hold her rear. She slept all day and I thought this isn't much a life.

Then she woke up at 3pm, went for a pee and then tried to chase Kismet around the room as Kis did zoomies. I held her back legs because I could see where that was heading! Then she pottered around the house and has just settled again for an evening nap like nothing is wrong. She hasn't even had her evening pain killer, although I should give her something for the morning as she didn't have her steroid today. Still trying to wean her back on the steroids, not sure if its worth it as it gives her a lot of pain relief - but is also what has ruined her joints.

A friend has said I can borrow the wheelchair she used for a previous Sheltie - that will make a huge difference. I think Tully would appreciate being mobile again, but that assumes Tully has strength in her front. And I have to get it here - the wheelchair is on a farm 3 hours away.

So there we go, I still can't pick it.

Gavin would never pee for me if I was holding him. I would hold him to get him balanced and then let go when I thought he was ready to pee. The wheelchair was great for peeing and pooping.....
I also used a harness (Gavin did NOT like the help me up rear harness and would not go). a ruffwear webmaster with a brush guard, and that was enough support for short walks to the grass to do his business. but then he was a boy dog. maybe you could express her bladder?

today was not a good day, Tully did meet a visitor, so that was nice. She's pottered around the house and wanted to go out but it's obvious she's hurting. She's also bored, I haven't gone for a walk in days and she hasn't been out in days either. I don't really have the energy to do the 3hr return drive to pick up the wheelchair so now I'm wondering if I should just fork out the money. One Aust company has a buy-back scheme where you pay 60% of the cost and then return it when you're finished, then they refurb and resell. It's still going to be $400 though (and they have no refurbs in Tully's size atm), a lot of momey for uncertainty. Probably going to lose my home anyway, with all these interest rate hikes, so maybe I just spend it all on Tully.

Thanks, but the owner of the wheelchair has said she won't ship it as she had it put together by a physio and it was expensive.

But I think (knock of wood) I have good news. We went to see the animal physio that has treated Tully for many years, but I haven't been able to afford more recently. Anyway, the physio thinks Tully has hurt her back and it's probably recoverable! So fingers crossed a few more physio appointments and a new TENS machine and Tully will be moving about - still with one torn cruciate and a wasted rear, but otherwise we have a reprieve. Tully truly is the comeback queen! I know this just buys us a reprieve but I am so very glad I went with my gut and didn't listen to the vet to pts.
