Tully update

A little good news, I managed to get the brace to fit better because she actually had a walk on our walk. Little bugger wanted to keep walking - she's such a strong willed little dog. Of course I only allowed her a short time, didn't want to push it.

This is no good for my back though, lifting her in and out of the stroller (it's the bending over and lifting/putting her back in that does it). I'm the one that's sore this morning.
 
The last few months, Gavin would walk out with an assistance harness to go potty.
After he made it to the grassy area, he would sit down and look at me with silly happy pride as if to say "I did it Mom'.
So a kiss on the snout and an 'I Love You'. Same after peeing. same after pooping.
I swear, ever thing he did was like that. He did it FOR me. Just like Tully is doing these things FOR you.
Treasure these moments, no matter how hard.
 
Well little miss true grit continues to amaze me. She has decided to walk without her brace. So tonight (friday) and Wed night she walked across the Uni concourse - a long way given her limitations. Tonight I ended up carrying her the last part because she just did not want to get back in the stroller.

She is also peeing, a lot. I don't know if that's good or bad. She does have kidney disease (stage 2) but I wonder if she's drinking a lot more now she's more mobile. I'm not sure if kidney disease makes them pee more?

I've covered the house with lots of rugs and I think that's helped a lot with her moving around more. Wish I had done it as soon as I get the carpet pulled up.
 
I cleaned all the rugs after Gavin passed. Hosed them down in the yard and hung them to dry.
rolled them all up and saved them in the garage. So useful... (saved the yoga mats from the kitchen, too)
They made a HUGE difference in helping Gavin move around the house more easily.
It went from a few here and there, to rugs over most every exposed bit of flooring in the place!

Kidney disease does usually increase water intake. But being more mobile is great!

I feel so guilty that I didn't just buy lots more rugs earlier! I brought runners but Tully always managed to miss the runners - although come to thin of it, she's so blind she probably didn't see where they were until she walked off them. Lesson learnt big time for me. Tully loves to walk so much, being blind and deaf she sniffs a lot too, I would hate it if she couldn't walk, And I've had to limit taking her out because lifing her in and out of the stroller was doing my back in.
 
ah.. well mine are all different designs and colours cause i bought them so many different times. mostly runners actually for hallways and spaces not covered by the bigger rugs. i think the bigger rugs doubled over time too.
