I'm writing to brag about our two rescue Shelties Bentley and Murphy. After much discussion and apprehension my husband and I contacted a rep with Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue about a little sable male with big ears. His name was Jet and his owners had turned him in after some run ins with their local Animal Control officers. See Jet kept getting past their invisible fence, probably going after his favorite prey - a squirrel. He was just 1.5 years old when we adopted him and quite a handful. His name said it all...lol. He loved zipping around the house and yard and top speed. To make him our very own we renamed him Bentley and after some obedience training and some maturing on his own he has become a wonderful addition to our family.
About 10 months after we adopted Bentley my husband surprised me with an adorable blue merle pup we named Zoey. I was amazed at Bentley's patience with her antics, even to this very day.
We ventured out again in January 2011 and adopted a chubby little male we named Murphy from the No. Chesapeake Sheltie Rescue. His face is that of an angel and we were thrilled at how easily he fit in with our other two Shelties. They all bonded instantly and play like they've known each other forever. I've got pics of all three in my SN album. Feel free to tell me how beautiful they are (wink, wink).
I can't say enough about the work these two rescues do and the bonds we've created with their coordinators. Cary and I volunteer at their events when time permits and support them monetarily. The dogs they bring in may have issues, but with love and patience and sometimes a good trainer most issues can be resolved. Give rescue a chance and if you cannot adopt then support your local Sheltie rescue in other ways.

sounds like the perfect fit for everyone. My Danny in his younger days sounds a lot like Bentley. Danny's dad was called Stormy Boy.
